Belize City Man Shot While Walking on Hiccatee Street

A 33-year-old man was shot and injured in Belize City last night.  Police responded to reports of shots fired at the corner of Bocotora and Hiccatee Streets around 10:30. Initial investigations revealed that Steven Smith, a resident of Euphrates Street, was walking with a woman on Hiccatee Street when they were approached by a group of three men.  One of the men in the group fired several shots at Smith before the group fled the scene, escaping toward the West Collet Canal.  Smith was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for treatment of his injuries. Authorities processed the scene for evidence, and police cameras in the area are being reviewed for additional information.
