Belize City Man Wanted After Pulling Gun on Girlfriend and Police Officer

A domestic dispute turned violent has prompted a manhunt for a Belize City resident. 22-year-old Dwayne Tillett.  Police have been on the lookout for Tillett since the weekend for a case of aggravated assault with a firearm. The entire ordeal unfolded in the North Creek area of Belize City when Tillett got caught up in a dispute with his girlfriend.  The situation escalated after the girlfriend’s brother, Police Constable Edward Jones, attempted to intervene.  Tillett then pulled a firearm on both his girlfriend and the cop.  Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero spoke on the incident today.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “On Friday the 15th day of August 2025 Aliyah Jones reported that she was at home at North Creek when Dwayne TIllett who is her ex boyfriend came to the house. There was a confrontation at which point Dwayne Tillett pulled out a firearm and pointed it her direction and pulled the trigger but the gun snapped. Thereafter Dwayne Tillett made good his escape. We are seeking Dwayne Tillett in regards to this report.”

Love News understands that the tragedy was circumvented when the gun jammed and failed to fire.  Tillett reportedly pulled the trigger at PC Jones, but the firearm snapped.  Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to report it by calling 911, 922, or the nearest police station. We note that Tillett has been in the news before in connection with violent crime. Or records show that in 2023, he was charged with attempted murder, and in 2024, he was charged with aggravated burglary
