WITH THE Wray & Nephew-sponsored Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Championship and Major League finals set for today at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex, KSAFA president Mark Bennett promises a special showcase for all football fans.

The parish’s league competitions have reached their grand finale with Boys’ Town FC set to take on Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) FC in the Championship final while August Town FC will clash with Duhaney Park FC for Major League honours.

Bennett said the finals will have quality football on display for the fans and said he is expecting highly competitive games.

“All the teams are looking forward to it and we expect high-quality football at a high-quality venue,” he said.

“The teams have all been there before and have been in finals at this level before and they want to win the league and move to the next level. We expect a tight game but one that will have its moments of excitement.”

Bennet promises the evening will not only be a focus on football, but said there are several entertainment packages in store for patrons.

Dancehall artiste Jashii and DJ Vybz have been confirmed for live performances during the half-time show. According to Bennett, title sponsors Wray & Nephew have also promised entertainment throughout the doubleheader.

“All in all, we expect a great evening and an experience that will stay with the fans and the players alike. We expect it to be an exciting event that will feature football and music that will be in the mix as we have some headliners that will perform for the half-time show. We have to thank Wray & Nephew who have come out to execute and we have a lot of things in store for our spectators.”

KSAFA is confident ahead of the finals with Bennett saying the leagues received positive crowd support during their ‘Rum Ball Fridays’ and their mid-season finals.

Bennett said the clubs have welcomed these initiatives this season and he believes they will become a staple of the KSAFA competitions.

“They all have accepted it and it’s a feature and standard of our competition now,” he said.

“The Friday nights we’ve really gotten into full gear and we’ve had full houses. Football at this level is alive and well. The signs are there for the clubs and associations and our sponsors to build on for next season.”

The doubleheader will begin with the Major League final at 5 p.m. while the Championship final is set for 7 p.m.
