Benque Native Shot in Domestic Dispute Across Guatemalan Border


Benque Police are yet to receive an official report from its counterpart in Melchor de Mencos, Peten, Guatemala, regarding a shooting incident that occurred this morning.  According to reports, a native of Benque Viejo del Carmen who now resides in Melchor was shot to the leg inside his home.  The 34-year-old taxi driver, known as Ferdi, reportedly got into an altercation with his common-law-wife which then escalated.  Initial reports were that the man had passed, but a follow up to the story says he has since been treated for a gunshot wound.  Our newsroom was told that the Police in Melchor are unable to provide a report on the incident as the victim has refused to make an official report.
