As October comes to an end, a total of five women has become victims of heinous crimes committed by men. These unfortunate cases have left many women across the nation in shock and are seeking a response from those in authority in hopes of curbing this nightmare.
The women of the Hope Center at the foot of the Bel-Can bridge, number one Central American Boulevard are staging a candlelight vigil tonight. Julian Mortis, Director of the Hope Center, is inviting everyone to join them as they support the mothers, sisters, aunts, and cousins who have died.

Julian Mortis, Director, Hope Center: “This vigil is especially for the five victims that had succumbed to their death through domestic violence. And so, I just want Belize to know that we’re not sitting silent. We’re making it known that we are not going to accept as women, domestic violence against our mothers, our sisterhood, you know, our children, our girls. So I am saying it out loud.”
The vigil takes place this evening at 6 at the Hope Center. Kindly bring a candle.
