Celebrities unite to support Jamaica after Hurricane Melissa

Vybz Kartel used his third performnce in Canada to rally support for Jamaica after the devastating Category 5 Hurricane Melissa.

He’s joined by several other stars including Sean Paul, Shaggy, Beenie Man, and Romeich Major, who are each stepping up to help in a big way.

Sean Paul has partnered with Food For The Poor and pledged to match fan donations up to 50,000 US dollars.

Shaggy has already flown in a plane full of supplies, with another expected to arrive on Saturday.

Beenie Man, through his Beenie Man Foundation, has already distributed aid, while Romeich Major has converted his business place into a drop-off point for relief supplies.

Minister Marion Hall is also offering her home in Jamaica as shelter for single mothers displaced by the storm.

AirBNB.org has joined the effort, providing free emergency housing for first responders and soon for residents who’ve lost their homes.

Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica on Tuesday, October 28. Many communities remain without power and water as recovery efforts continue.
