Paris Olympic 100m finalist Tia Clayton will aim to take advantage of one of a few options still available to her to compete in the women’s 100m at the World Championships in Tokyo Japan in September.

Clayton who finished outside the top three at the National Championship after pulling up midway the final with an injury, has been named in Jamaica’s team to the Nacac Area Championships in the Bahamas August 15-17.

According to World Athletics Qualification and Entry Standard, athletes who win their Area Championship, could secure a fourth spot to individual events in Tokyo, providing there’s no better entry by world rankings of another athlete from the same area in the same event.

Clayton will run in the 100m in the Bahamas along with Jodean Williams.

The meet will also be used to help Jamaica achieve the World Championship qualifying standard in the women’s 4x400m relay.

The top three finishers in the women’s 400m at the National Championship Nickeisha Pryce, Dejanae Oakley and Stace-Ann Williams are included in a six member squad along with Leah Anderson, Shaquena Foote and Roneisha McGregor.

A men’s 4x100m relay team has also been named for Nacac Kadrian Goldson, Ryiem Forde, Rohan Watson, Christopher Taylor, Adrian Kerr and Bouwahjgie Nkrumie.

That team will also attempt to achieve the qualifying standard having failed to do so in Barbados this past weekend.

Maurice Wilson is Team Technical leader, Julette Parkes Team Manager and coaches Paul Francis, Gregory Little and Marlon Gayle.
