Clive Hendricks Issued Disclosure in Aggravated Assault Case Involving Police Officer

Construction Worker Clive Hendricks, 44, of Pickstock Street, Belize City, was issued his disclosure today in court #2. It’s a 51-page document and a CD ahead of his upcoming case management conference set for December 1. After his case management, a date will be set for the case to begin.

On June 3, Hendricks, who was shot in the hand during an exchange of gunfire with police, was released from the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, 11 days later and was immediately handed over to the police department. While in police custody, Hendricks was charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm, upon Police Constable Byron Samuels.

PC Byron Samuels, 24, of San Ignacio Town, stated that while manning the New Road Vehicular Checkpoint, he heard three gunshots coming from Victoria Street. Samuels and his partner immediately responded and reportedly saw a dark-skinned man, slim built, about 5’6″, wearing a red shirt, dark long pants, and a black ski mask, running from an empty lot toward Lovely Lane.

Samuels ordered the man to stop, but instead, the suspect allegedly turned and fired several shots at him.

Samuels fired back, injuring the man in the right hand. The suspect then fled the scene. Police later recovered the expended shell casings, a black Bersa .380 pistol, a green ski mask, a black cap, and a blood swab from the scene. Subsequent investigation led to the identification of Clive Hendricks as the alleged shooter.
