Corozal Community College Teachers Paid but Classes Still Suspended

Corozal Community College teachers are breathing a sigh of relief because they have finally been paid but they will not return to classes until the board meets with them. As a result, classes have been suspended for a third day straight, according to a letter from the CCC. The teachers wrote to the board requesting that Finance Officer, Darrell Thompson be removed from his position. They also want a meeting with the Board to discuss a litany of concerns they outlined in the letter dated September 30. The letter contains nine short paragraphs highlight the unethical behavior of the Finance Officer, adding that (quote) “his actions have consistently demonstrated a lack of professionalism and respect for faculty and staff, and we can no longer remain silent.” (end quote) The teachers went on to say that (quote) “we can no longer tolerate the Finance Officer’s tyrannical behavior and blatant disregard for the staff’s financial stability. His actions demonstrate a clear abuse of power, working against the school’s interest rather than supporting its mission. His behavior has eroded our confidence in his ability to manage the school’s finances effectively and fairly.” (end quote)
