It was 18th century British poet and playwright Joseph Addison who said that “Colours speak all languages”, a fitting description of how colour perception transcends your cornea, class, creed and even culture. While our tastes may indeed vary, how colour makes us feel is a universal language understood intrinsically by all and thus it is celebrated on our vehicles and in our homes, one glorious can or bucket at a time.
Yes, we recognise that colour perception relates to a myriad of factors including an object’s light absorption and reflection but there is so much more to this thing called colour. Why do we like what we like and do our personalities have anything to do with it? How does one choose the right colour for one’s home and what is considered hip and trending for 2025? To get these and other answers, BUZZZ Magazine turned to the experts at Edgechem Jamaica Limited; Marketing & Export Manager Omar Azan and Colour Consultant Julianne Walker-Thompson, for a one-on-one session on all things paints, perceptions and even particular tastes and traditions that Jamaicans hold near and dear.
