Reggae songstress Etana is among a number of persons from the entertainment industry to receive National Honours.
Etana and Gospel singer Kevin Downswell have been conferred with the Order of Distinction in the rank of officer.
Etana is being honoured for her contribution to reggae music whilst Downswell is being honoured for his contribution to gospel music locally and internationally.
The late Reggae Singer Garnett Silk will also be posthumously honored with the Order of Distinction in the rank of officer for his contribution to reggae music.
Legendary Producer, King Jammy is also being honoured. He will be upgraded from officer to commander of the Order of Distinction for his outstanding contribution to Jamaica’s music industry and innovation in reggae and dancehall.
The honours and awards will be presented at the National Honours and Awards ceremony in October. There will be 141 awardees this year.
