A Belize City man is behind bars, accused of repeatedly burglarizing a local warehouse. A Chinese businessman is the victim of three burglaries, and police have made an arrest. Thirty-four-year-old Christian Caliz, a fisherman from Belize City, was arraigned in court on three counts of burglary. He is accused of stealing over $1,600 worth of assorted drinks, including beer and soda, from the warehouse of thirty-six-year-old businessman Yuanyang Yan, who owns Discount Supermarket. The burglaries allegedly occurred on July 27, July 30, and July 31. Caliz pleaded not guilty to the charges before Magistrate Ludlow Black but was denied bail due to the nature of the crime. Caliz, who was also in debt to the court, was remanded to Belize Central Prison until his next court date on September 15. Police say entry to the warehouse was gained by damaging a lock on the front door.
