Garifuna Council moves to boost membership nationwide

The National Garifuna Council is preparing to scale up recruitment across its branches countrywide to bolster its numbers. According to the NGC’s new executive board, membership has dropped considerably over the years, particularly for financial members. This has reduced the organization’s ability to carry out its education and advocacy functions. NGC National President Alex Nolberto said that the board learned of its dwindling membership during its recently launched familiarization tour. 

The executive has been to 9 of the 12 branches over the past few weeks, with meetings pending in Belize City, San Pedro and Libertad Village in the Corozal District.
