Guyana was announced as the inaugural host of the Global Super League T20 competition, from November 26 to December 7.

The announcement was made by the CPL in a statement on Sunday.

The event will feature five teams from five different countries, competing for a prize fund of US $1 million.

Last year’s CPL champion Guyana Amazon Warriors will represent the Caribbean in the five team tournament. The other four teams are yet to be announced.

The tournament marks South America’s first standalone cricket event and is sanctioned by Cricket West Indies and supported by the government of Guyana.

The competition will consist of a mini-league format with 11 matches. Each team will play four matches, with the top two teams advancing to the final.

All games will be played at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence.

The event is poised to become an annual fixture, with different teams invited each season.
