Representatives from the 11 HelpAge Belize branches countrywide participated in a three-day financial management training this week. The sessions were held in a blended model comprising two virtual sessions and one in-person session, held at the HelpAge Office in Belize City. The sessions were aimed at improving the quality of the financial reporting done by the branches to enhance accountability. Evan Dakers, Chairman, National Board of Directors, HelpAge Belize, stated that the need for training was highlighted by a recent needs assessment conducted by the board.
The needs assessment and the training were part of a project, funded by a European Union grant with support from the Belize Network of NGOs and the Belize Audubon Society. Training facilitator Carmen Barrow says that the branches also discuss the results of the assessment during the training.
The training sessions concluded yesterday.
