ANOTHER REGGAE Girl has secured a new club this transfer window as Taylor Hinds made the switch from the red of Liverpool to the red of North London, the defender signing for Arsenal in the Barclay’s Women’s Super League (WSL).
Hinds joined Arsenal following the expiry of her contract with Liverpool and marks a return to the club where she had made her first senior appearance.
She spent seven years in the club’s academy before making her Arsenal debut during the 2017-2018 season.
The defender, who also sometimes plays in midfield, left Arsenal in 2018, signing for Everton, before joining cross-town rivals Liverpool.
Upon her second stint with the club, Hinds said the signing felt like a “full-circle moment”.
“This is a full-circle moment for me, and I’m grateful to come back to a place I called home when I was younger. I can’t wait to get started and to step out on the pitch at Emirates Stadium in front of all our incredible supporters.”
Hinds believes joining Arsenal could prove pivotal, and she is ready to compete for trophies with one of the top clubs in the world.
Arsenal are coming off a successful season, claiming their second-ever hold on the UEFA Women’s Champions League title, defeating Barcelona 1-0 in a tense final.
They are also one of the most successful women’s clubs in English history, winning 15 league titles, 14 FA Cup titles, and seven league titles.
“I’m so proud to have signed for Arsenal,” said Hinds.
“I want to push, compete, and be winning trophies, and this club encompasses all of that both on and off the pitch. You can see what direction Arsenal is going in, and everyone at the club wants to win.”
Arsenal’s head coach, Renée Slegers, welcomed Hinds’ return and said she brings to the team a wealth of experience and leadership capabilities.
Hinds was appointed team captain and helped the club in its promotion back to the WSL in 2022.
“We’re delighted to welcome Taylor back to Arsenal. She’s a versatile player who has great experience from multiple seasons in the WSL with Liverpool, where she took on a leadership role.,” Slegers said.
“I’m excited to get started with Taylor on the training pitch, and I’m sure our supporters will join me in welcoming Taylor back to the club.”
