A Honduran woman has been fined $1,000 after being convicted for failing to comply with the conditions of her visitor’s permit. After living in Belize for nearly two years without proper status, Maria Del Carmen Colindres Moreno has been ordered to return to her home country.
The 42-year-old woman appeared before Magistrate Mannon Dennison on Friday, where she was charged with failing to comply with the conditions of her visitor’s permit. She was unrepresented and pleaded guilty to the offence. Moreno was ordered to pay the fine immediately or face three months in jail. In addition, the court granted the Immigration Department a removal order, requiring that she be returned to her home country of Honduras.
