Captain of the West Indies, Shai Hope, had mixed reaction to the team’s eight-wicket loss against Australia in the second T20 International at Sabina Park, on Tuesday night.

Hope says he was happy for the support shown by the fans, but wanted to give Andre Russell a winning send off in his final international match.

The win by Australia has given them a 2-0 lead in the five match T20 International series.

Man-of-the-match Josh Inglis smashed an unbeaten 78 off 33 balls, with seven fours and five sixes and Cameron Green 56 off 33, to guide Australia to the target of 173 with eight wickets and 28 balls to spare.

The two shared in a blistering record breaking third wicket stand for Australia to lead the victory charge and deny Russell a fairytale farewell.

The Windies had earlier posted 172 for 8 in their 20 overs on the back of 51 from Brandon King and 36 from Russell himself.

Adam Zampa claimed 3 for 29 while there were two wickets apiece for Glen Maxwell and Nathan Ellis.

Hope believes they let themselves down in the field.

Shai Hope.

The series moves to St. Kitts for the last three games.
