The country’s point-to-point inflation rate increased slightly to 5.3 percent at the end of April.
That’s according to the Statistical Institute of Jamaica, STATIN.
This is up from five-percent the month prior.
According to STATIN, this was influenced mainly by increases in the index for the divisions, Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels, Restaurants and Accommodation Services.
Meanwhile inflation for the month of April declined by 0.4 percent.
The largest contributor to this downward movement was a 1.4 percent fall in the index of the Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels’ division.
