Defending champions Italy have booked their ticket to the round of 16 of the European championship after playing out a 1-1 draw with Croatia in Leipzig Monday afternoon.

The Italians left it late with Mattia Zaccagni grabbing a last gasp equaliser with virtually the last play of the game in the 98th minute to cancel out Luka Modric’s strike which gave Croatia the lead on minute 55.

Italy ended second in the group behind Spain who beat Albania 1-0 on Ferran Torres goal to top the group with maximum nine points.
