Jamaica Picks up More Medals at Junior Pan Am Games

Jamaica has won two gold medals at the Junior Pan Am Games in Paraguay.

Jasauna Dennis clocked 45.56 seconds to win the men’s 400m title on Wednesday with teammate Shakeem Uter 5th in 46.53 seconds.

In the women’s final Shanakaye Anderson picked up the bronze in 53-point-41 seconds as Diana Proctor of Canada won gold in 51.97 seconds.

Jamaica got gold and bronze in the men’s 400-metres hurdles.

Tyreece Hyman won gold in 48.90 second, while his team mate Romario Stewart was third in 50.11 seconds.

Daynea Coldstock posted 58.78 for third in the women’s 400-metres hurdles final.

Jamaica now has 7 medals at the games, the other 2 came in swimming, a silver and a bronze.

Meanwhile, Kishay Rowe finished 4th in the women’s 1500-metres final in 4-minutes-29-point-03 seconds, with Dafne Juarez of Mexico winning in 4:23.58.

Jamaica’s athletes, Alliah Baker and Marissa Palmer both advanced to the final of the women’s 200-metres.

Baker advanced after finishing 4th in semi-final-1 in 24.23 seconds, while Palmer was also 4th in semi-final-2 in 23.82.

In the men’s semi-finals, Sanjay Seymore advanced after finishing 4th in 21.13 seconds and Odane Crooks qualified after finishing 4th in semi-final-2 in 21.18 seconds.

Jamaica is competing in twelve of the forty-two sports in the championship.

The other sports are Archery, diving, Golf, Badminton, Cycling-Track, Fencing, Rugby, Sailing, Tennis and Wrestling.
