Reggae Girl Jody Brown has signed her first professional contract with reigning Portuguese champions Benfica in the Liga BPI.

Brown announced the move on her social media pages, days after announcing her departure from Florida State University.

"I am proud and honoured to sign my first professional contract with a big institution such as Benfica," Brown wrote.

"Being a professional player has always been my dream since I started playing in Jamaica."

Brown made her senior debut for Jamaica in 2018 aged 16.

She enjoyed a successful career with Florida State where she won two National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division 1 Women's Soccer Championships and four straight Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Women's Soccer titles.

Brown brings a wealth of attacking talent to the Portuguese giants having scored 24 goals and 26 assists in 84 appearances for Florida State.

She is expected to line up for Benfica in the Liga BPI as well as the UEFA Women's Champions League.
