In a proud moment for Jamaica’s reggae scene, singer-songwriter Keznamdi received a powerful endorsement from Bounty Killer after landing his first Grammy nomination for Best Reggae Album. The Rastafarian crooner took to Instagram on Sunday to reflect on the milestone, sharing a photo of himself strumming a guitar in nature with the caption: “Had to take a day to process this one. Cya believe the lickle red Ras from up a Skyline nominated for a Grammy… Heart swell to know that this year nominations is fully an all Jamaica line up of basically yutes. This is a new tidal wave for Reggae. Rastafari live!”
Among the flood of congratulatory messages was one from dancehall’s General himself, Bounty Killer, who wrote: “Done did a tell yuh time a now or never congratulations youth salute 🤙👏👏.” The gesture didn’t go unnoticed. Keznamdi quickly replied, thanking the veteran for his mentorship: “@grunggaadzilla give thx for always giving the next generation the motivation and always sharing your platform. Only 1 killa!!! YALLO!!!!” To which Bounty added, “Kaboooom that’s the only way we’ll sustain and growth gain pushing the younger ones that’s the future 🔥🔥🔥.”
In a recent Billboard interview, Keznamdi called the nomination a defining moment in his independent journey. “This Grammy nomination is a mega win not just for me and my music but for my whole independent label team,” he said. “We built Blxxd & Fyah from the ground up — no label, no big machine, just pure faith, vision, and fire music from the heart.” The singer, who has long championed authentic roots reggae, described this year’s all-Jamaican lineup as “a new tidal wave for reggae” and proof that “roots reggae still has a global front-row seat.”
As Jamaica continues to rebuild in the wake of Hurricane Melissa, the island’s cultural resilience remains unshaken. With the 68th Annual Grammy Awards set for February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Keznamdi’s nomination underscores reggae’s enduring global impact — and the unbroken link between the genre’s legends and its rising stars.
