Seasoned campaigners Ryan Lue and Mattea Issa are set to lead Jamaica’s 9-member team to the 37th Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship in Puerto Rico, from July 28 to August 1.
The full team include returning players with experience at the regional level as well as two new members.
National coach Jonathan Newnham who has been preparing the team to challenge the other countries in the Caribbean for the Hank James country trophy as well as the age group trophies, is upbeat that the team will give a good account of itself during the championship.
He will be relying on Lue and Issa, the two most experienced players on the team to shepherd the younger ones as they seek to master the varying conditions on what may be a strange golf course to some players.
Jamaica’s best position to date at the championship is second in 2018 when it was held here at the Caymanas Golf Club in St. Catherine and in 2019 at the PGA rated golf course in Nassau, Bahamas.
