Lyles Clocks Lifetime Best to Win US 100m Championship

Reigning world champion Noah Lyles produced a lifetime best to win the 100 metres final on day three of the US Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon on Sunday.

Lyles sped to 9.83 seconds to beat Kenny Bendarek who did 9.87, also a lifetime best, while Fred Kerley bagged the final spot to Paris in 9.88 seconds.

Christian Coleman who was heavily favoured to make the US team, missed out after finishing fourth in 9.93 second and must now settle for only a spot in the relays.

Kendall Ellis posted a personal best 49.46 seconds to win the women’s 400m.

Second was Aaliyah Butler in 49.71 seconds, also a personal best, while Alexis Holmes, who finished third, also did a personal best 49.78 seconds.
