
A 27-YEAR-OLD man is hospitalised and under police guard after a police-involved shooting in Claxton Bay on August 20.
According to reports, officers from the Southern Division were on inquiries at Forres Park Trace shortly before midday in connection with several offences in the division.
While at the location, police observed two men near a house. It is alleged that one of the men pulled out a firearm, prompting officers to open fire as they feared for their lives. The man was shot and wounded.
The second person, a 24-year-old man, was immediately arrested by officers.
The police reportedly recovered a gun at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
At the house, a female occupant was seen, but she claimed that she was not present when the incident occurred and had no information about what had transpired.
Investigations are ongoing.
