47-year-old Fidel Ramirez who was caught earlier this year with over 2 pounds of weed and was fined initially with a minimum mandatory fine of $10,000 and a 2-year suspended sentence, instead of facing trial after changing his not guilty plea to guilty. Due to Ramirez not being able to pay half of the fine, he was sent to the Belize Central Prison until the $5,000, half of the minimum mandatory fine could be paid.
