The Jamaica Manufacturers and Exporters Association, JMEA, is set to meet with the foreign affairs ministry to discuss the impact of recent tariffs imposed by the United States.

The US’ 10 per cent baseline tariff took effect on Saturday. The measure was announced by US President Donald Trump three days prior, on April 2.
The JMEA hosted its 49th staging of the EXPO Jamaica Trade Show at the National Indoor Sports Centre in St. Andrew on the weekend, with more than 300 local buyers participating.
Miss Blake says it’s critical for local manufacturers to seek new markets to import their goods.
Meanwhile, Miss Blake says local manufacturers are remaining positive despite the uncertainty surrounding the impact of the tariff.
