The upcoming Miss Universe pageant is already off to a controversial start after a confrontation between Miss Mexico, Fátima Bosch, and Thai pageant director Nawat Itsaragrisil prompted several contestants, including the reigning Miss Universe, Victoria Theilvig to walk out of a live event. The incident unfolded ahead of a scheduled sashing ceremony in Thailand and was streamed live on the Miss Universe Thailand Facebook page.
Immediately following the incident, Miss Mexico, Fatima Bosch, spoke to media outlets present regarding the situation.
Joining the protest against the Miss Universe pageant director, Itsaragrisil is the reigning Miss Universe, Victoria Theilvig of Denmark. She also expressed her discontent with the pageant director.
Approximately two hours after the incident, a release by the Miss Universe organization reaffirms its commitment to work closely with the host community by sending in a high-level delegation led by the Chief Executive Officer, Mario Bucaro. The team is to aid the Miss Grand Organization and all local partners to ensure the continued success of the 74th competition. Miss Mexico was back in action for take two of the sashing ceremony. The 74th annual staging of the Miss Universe pageant is set for November 21, in Bankok, Thailand. We’ll be watching and rooting for our very own MISS Belize Universe, Isabella Zabaneh
