Motorcycle Crash in Toledo Leaves One Dead, One Hospitalized

A motorcycle crash on the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway yesterday evening has left one man dead and another hospitalized. The victim has been identified as 38-year-old Polorencio Ack, a Ranger from Silver Creek Village in the Toledo District. The accident occurred just before 6:00 PM in Big Falls Village between miles 79 and 80. According to police, 18-year-old Anasario Cal, a soldier from Crique Sarco Village, was driving his motorcycle southbound with Ack as his passenger when he lost control and crashed near the Big Falls Bridge. Ack suffered injuries to the head, chest, and arm. He was responsive at the scene and pronounced dead at the Punta Gorda hospital shortly after.  Officers who responded to the scene say that they found Cal sitting beside the damaged motorcycle, disoriented and apparently under the influence of alcohol. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero says that Cal has since been charged.

Romero also confirmed that Cal does not have a valid driver’s license, only a learner’s permit, which was issued on June 27.
