For the second time this year Jamaica’s Navasky Anderson has lowered the national record in the men’s 800m and punched his ticket to September’s World Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

Anderson, running at the Sound Running Sunset Tour Meet on Saturday clocked 1:44.40 to erase his previous mark of 1:44.61 which was done at the Mission Run Baltimore High Performance Meet last month.

The 25-year-old stated that the new mark didn’t surprise him.

Anderson shared that in the coming weeks he has multiple races to contest in a bid to fine tune preparations ahead of the World Championships.

Despite running two personal best times in a one month period, the former PanAm Games and Commonwealth Champion shared that he hasn’t reached his full potential.
