The National Commercial Bank, NCB, and First Global Bank, FGB, had the highest uptime for their Automated Banking Machines, ABMs, in the Kingston Metropolitan Area in the month of February.

That’s according to data released by the Bank of Jamaica, BOJ, on Friday.

Chevon Campbell tells us more.

The data was tabulated from outturns provided by the individual banks to the Central Bank.

According to the list, NCB enjoyed an uptime of 97.5 percent among the one-hundred-and-six ABMs it operates within the corporate area.

NCB also operates the most AMBs of any commercial bank in the country.

First Global Bank is the only institution on the list whose uptime exceeded 98 percent.

However, First Global operates relatively few machines, only eleven in the corporate area.

Sagicor and CIBC Caribbean Bank round out the third and fourth spots at 96.9 percent and 96.6 percent respectively.

Scotia Bank, JN Bank and Victoria Mutual Building Society all fell below the 90 percent mark and the Bank of Jamaica’s standards for required uptime in the Kingston Metropolitan Area.

Average ABM uptime for the region was 92.8 percent.

It’s a rate deemed unacceptable by the Bank of Jamaica.

Meanwhile, rural areas are comparatively worse off in terms of ABM uptime.

The average uptime for rural ABMs was 91.9 percent.

Again, First Global and CIBC lead the pack at 98.4 percent and 97.2 percent respectively.

NCB falls to third place, tying with VMBS at 96.3 percent.

Bank of Nova Scotia and JN Bank again performed the worst at 87.9 and 86.7 percent respectively.

Again, both entities failed to meet the requisite standards as instituted by the Bank of Jamaica.
