Commissioner of Police Dr. Richard Rosado has denied any familial connection to businessman Kris Rosado, the driver in a July 29 incident that killed Police Constable Arcenio Cus. The commissioner’s remarks come after it was speculated that the driver was not facing charges in the incident due to him being a relative to the Police Commissioner. It has been sixteen days since the incident, and charges are yet to be levied against the businessman. Love News understands that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has requested more elements to the case file, specifically, a complete forensic analysis, additional witness statements, and clarification on whether the driver had failed to render aid or report the crash immediately. Charges under consideration include manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, and failing to stop and assist. Love News spoke with the Police Commissioner who explained that they are still awaiting further directives from the DPP.

Dr. Richard Rosado, Commissioner of Police: “The investigators have collected certain evidential material, have collected video footage and I do know that they have collected samples that are forwarded to the forensic lab and we are waiting for determination from the forensic lab before the file is forwarded back to the DPP office for her advice. Not because someone bears the same surname they are related. We bear the same surname but we are not related.”
Cus was a member of the Belize Police Department for 19 years.
