
Police are investigating a weekend hit-and-run incident involving one of their own. On Friday night, 31-year-old Police Constable Javier Waight was hit by an unknown vehicle as he drove his motorcycle near mile 62 on the George Price Highway. He survived the ordeal but remains hospitalized at the Western Regional Hospital. Assistant Commissioner of Police Hilberto Romero says police are working to identify the vehicle that hit PC Waight.

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “On Friday the 15th day of August police responded to accident on the George Price Highway near The Orange Gallery. There they met Javier Waight Police Constable with injuries and a damaged motorcycle. He reported that he was riding his motorcycle and he was struck with a vehicle which did not stop. He was taken for treatment and is currently in a stable condition. We are seeking the vehicle in regard to this road traffic accident. He is now in stable condition.”

ACP Hilberto Romero, Officer Commanding Eastern Division: “Not at this time. He was struck and he fell on the street and thereafter the vehicle left the area.”
