President of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica, PSOJ, Metry Seaga, is confident that Jamaica can withstand any negative effects of the projected drop in global growth.
The International Monetary Fund, IMF, in its World Economic Outlook, projects global growth to drop to 2.8 percent in 2025 and three percent in 2026.
For Latin America and the Caribbean, growth has been revised down to 2-percent in 2025 and 2.4 percent in 2026.
Speaking with Nationwide News, Mr. Seaga says while he’s concerned about the numbers, he has no worries about Jamaica’s resilience.
Mr. Seaga’s comments follow a meeting between leaders of the private sector, Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness and Foreign Affairs Minister, Senator Kamina Johnson-Smith at the PSOJ’s headquarters in Kingston.
Mr. Seaga says the business leaders were encouraged by the discussions.
