AFTER EIGHT months of inactivity, Jamaica super welterweight boxer Joshua ‘Hellrazor’ Frazer returns to the ring on July 26 against Colombian Luis Diaz Pestana in Colombia, and says he feels dangerous and ready.
Frazer’s last fight was a third-round knockout win over Petr Brodsky on November 24; however, the 31-year-old has been working very hard in the gym and eagerly awaits his first engagement in over six months.
“I feel dangerous. I feel strong. And I am ready to get back to what I love to do, and with a little flavour on it.
“I am ready to get back in the ring. I am excited. I can’t wait to go back to Colombia. The last time I was there, I was there supporting Jamaica. So it’s good to be back, and we look to win,” he said.
Joshua will have another fight two weeks after his Colombian encounter with Pestana, against Argentine Victoriano Antonio Santillan, and his coach and father Dewith Frazer, pointed out that the main objective of the trip to Colombia is to get the boxer active again.
“We have not really promoted the Colombia fight because people are not really going to Colombia. But his opponent is Luis Diaz Pestana. He has 24 wins, 13 losses, carries a weight of 154 pounds.
“The main thing we are looking for is activity. He (Joshua) was inactive and when we scheduled this bout, August 9 wasn’t on the schedule as yet.
“But the idea is that you don’t want to stay inactive too long. He last fight was November last year. He had a third-round knockout. So he needs action.
“He has been in the gym ever since and he is in excellent shape. We hope to get a win. We are looking at a KO win. He is now 12 and 0, and we are looking to go 13 and 0,” he stated.
He noted that Joshua will have four fights this year and is hoping that he gets some form of title shot by the end of it.
“After this fight next week, he has three more fights, and we are looking at a title, possibly the Commonwealth title at the end of the year,” he commented.
Joshua is eyeing a knockout against Pestana, and also believes he will be in a better position to demand a title fight at the end of the year.
“If I get that knockout come July 26 and then on August ninth, I am more than satisfied. This camp is a good camp. And God’s willing, I get no injuries.
“I will keep my foot on the gas and keep getting better at the game, and try to find the right notes inside and outside of the ring,” he said.
