Reggae Girlz Reanna Blades and Tiffany Cameron have secured new clubs. Blades signed with Women’s Super League 2 (WSL 2) club Sunderland while Cameron penned a deal with Halifax Tides from Canada’s Northern Super League (NSL).
Blades, 20, will be making the switch to Sunderland ahead of the 2025/2026 season on a one-year deal, following the end of her contract with Burnley.
The signing represents a move up the ranks for Blades, as she moves from the English third tier into the second tier with Sunderland.
Blades, who began her professional career at Chelsea, said she was excited ahead of the move and is looking forward to a new chapter in her career.
“I am honoured to be part of this club. I’m looking forward to getting started and for a new journey to begin,” she said upon her signing.
The midfielder had represented England throughout her youth career, but had opted to switch to the Reggae Girlz for her senior career, receiving her first call-up last year for Jamaica’s friendly against France.
She will join fellow Reggae Girlz such as Allyson Swaby, Atlanta Primus, Jade Bailey, Shania Hayles and Natasha Thomas who ply their trade in the WSL 2.
THE JOURNEY CONTINUES
On the other hand, it is yet another club for journey-woman-33 year-old Cameron who penned a deal with Halifax Tides, marking her 14th club across an extensive career.
Cameron joins Halifax after a two-year stint in Spain with Real Betis, where she had closed out the 2023/24 season as the club’s top goalscorer.
It will be familiar shores for Cameron, as the Canadian-born striker is returning to the nation where she played her youth career and made six senior appearances for the Canadian women’s team.
As all her international caps came in friendlies, she was able to make the switch to Jamaica in 2019, ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and has been a mainstay in the national programme since.
The move also marks her third stint in Canada, having played twice in the now defunct USL W-League.
In fact, Cameron had started her professional career in Canada when she turned out for the now-disbanded Toronto Lady Lynx.
Halifax welcomed her signing as the clubs stated that the forward brings a wealth of experience to their squad.
“We are proud to welcome Tiffany Cameron to Halifax Tides FC! A seasoned pro with an international career and a deep well of experience, Tiff brings elite skill, unmatched versatility, and an infectious energy to our roster,” her announcement message read.
