The Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) is also stepping up their security with the help of the 68-year-old Rotary Club of Belize. Today the organization Dr. President, Sylvia Cattouse was on hand to present a generous donation to the Y.

Sylvia Cattouse, President, Rotary Club of Belize: “So about almost two years ago when Diane came to us and said, listen, you know, we need a security booth, et cetera, Cisco Woods, who’s in charge of these community projects, told her, well, we’ll get you one. And of course, I’m sure she didn’t think it would be so long. And here we are today.”
Diane Haylock, General Secretary of the YWCA, expressed her gratitude with today’s gift.

Diane Haylock, General Secretary of the YWCA: “Well, it’s really wonderful. I was saying in the ceremony earlier that prior to this booth, we actually had uh one of those tents and then we had the tropoline over the tent and every two or three months we have to change the tropoline because when the weather comes, the tropoline gets stored up and what have you, right? So it’s like every two or three months we had to buy a new tropoline so as um Sylvia said earlier, you know, we reached out to to Cisco, who’s their coordinator of projects. And even though we had recently gotten the playground from them, I know that they’ve been doing these boots around the country. So we reached out to them, and he said, yes, we’ll do it, but it’ll take a little while. And two years hence, we’re here today where we have our wonderful booth. I could have put the tent away and use it for what tents can be better used for. And it really provides uh a space for a warden to shelter from the weather, right? Because when our children are arriving, she has to be out here to meet them, their parents, you know, the signing in and the signing out. But then she has her little space that she can sit comfortably in, you know, until other people come in.”
President Cattouse also spoke on the longstanding partnership between the two entities.
Sylvia Cattouse, President, Rotary Club of Belize: “This is really not our first. We’ve had the partnership with YWCA for some time now. In fact, during COVID, we provided wash basins, subsequently the playground. That’s quite an attraction here for the kids. The Rotary Club of Belize also provided.”
The Rotary Club of Belize has been building and distributing these security booths through a partnership with Rotarian Francisco woods.
