SAFP Wins Season Opener in Kingston

Two-time Olympic and five-time World 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce finally opened her 2024 season at the National Stadium in Kingston on Saturday night.

Fraser-Pryce running out of lane eight, won the women’s 100m in 11.15 seconds.

The “Pocket Rocket” did it the hard way, having to come from behind to beat Jodean Williams of Sprintec, who was quickest out the blocks.

Williams was second in 11.20 seconds.

Fraser-Pryce will be attempting to qualify for her fifth straight Olympic Games, having already announced this will be her final global championship.

The National Championships to select Jamaica’s team to this summer’s Paris Olympics will be held at the National Stadium June 27-30.
