Salesman Charged With Stealing $29,000 From Belize Employer


A Belizean salesman is out on bail after being charged with stealing close to $29,000 from his employer. Thirty-eight-year-old Virgilio Gomez was in court today to face three counts of theft. He is accused of stealing a total of $28,947 from Diversa Trading Belize Ltd. The alleged thefts occurred on three separate occasions: $4,000 on June 23, $2,815 on July 1, and $22,132 between June 6 and August 5. Gomez pleaded not guilty to all charges. He was granted bail in the amount of $5,000, with two sureties of $2,500 each, and was able to meet the requirements by noon. Gomez is scheduled to return to court on October 23.
