A San Juan pensioner was bound and gagged before being robbed of $20,000 in cash during a home invasion on Wednesday night.
The 76-year-old woman of El Socorro Road, San Juan, reportedly went to bed around 11 pm on August 5.
She was awakened around 2.45 am on August 6, by someone placing a pillow over her head.
As she came alert, the woman saw four masked men in her bedroom, demanding money and jewellery.
As one of the men bound her hands, and taped her feet and mouth with tape–the others ransacked the bedroom.
The men found an envelope containing $20,000 in cash in the drawer of a wardrobe, which the victim had been saving in order to effect roof repairs.
The intruders left minutes later.
The victim managed to free herself approximately 20 minutes later and contacted officers at the Barataria Police Station who found the men had gained entry into the home by cutting the metal burglar proofing from from a window.
