Dancehall star Shenseea says her collaboration with Mariah Carey came at a time when she didn’t plan on doing any more features but she just couldn’t say no to the pop diva.
Shenseea explained what happened during a recent TikTok Live.
The track, titled Sugar Sweet, also features R&B singer Kehlani. Shenseea, who’s credited as a writer, shared a snippet of her verse and visuals where she channels some of Mariah’s moves often seen in the pop diva’s music videos.
Sugar Sweet, which debuts at at number 5 on the US iTunes Song Chart, opens with Shenseea asking, “Mariah, a wah yuh do?” before Carey smoothly chimes in with the line “Walk to the car.”
The track is the second release from Mariah Carey’s long-awaited new album Here for It All, set to drop on September 26. It marks her 16th studio album and first since 2018’s Caution.
