Shenseea has officially trademarked her stage name for use across a wide range of apparel products, protecting her brand for the launch a fully fledged clothing empire.
The 28-year-old entertainer, born Chinsea Lee, has already dipped her toes into the fashion world through high-profile styling moments, brand partnerships and a rapidly evolving aesthetic that has gained her international attention. She has walked red carpets in custom designer looks, fronted global campaigns, and built a fan base that watches her style as closely as her music releases. But it now appears she may be preparing to shift from collaborations to creating a fashion business of her own.
Shenseea attending the 2023 MTV Video Music AwardsAccording to trademark documents filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on 19 March 2025, Shenseea has trademarked her name for use on an extensive collection of apparel, including T-shirts, hoodies, hats, jackets, jerseys, lingerie and even denim. With such a broad category list, the industry may well be witnessing the early groundwork for a Shenseea-branded clothing line.
Her interest in fashion has been developing for years. In an exclusive 2024 interview with World Music Views, the Grammy-nominated performer revealed ambitions to step more fully into the fashion landscape, drawing inspiration from stars who have turned personal style into global enterprises. “I’m in fashion right now, but more in it, yes,” she shared, while preparing for the launch of her second studio album Never Gets Late Here.
She has long expressed admiration for Kanye West—now known as Ye—whose Yeezy brand reshaped the modern fashion landscape. “Somebody that I look up to right now in fashion is Kanye West. I always say, you know Kanye, you need to come be my creative director real soon,” she said. Shenseea recalled the first time they met during the Dondalistening sessions: “He styled me for the Donda album right. His sense of fashion is just out of the box and I love style that is out of the box. I love weird fashion.”
Although she has yet to fully embrace the avant-garde looks she envisions for herself, she hinted that such experimentation is imminent. “I haven’t stepped into the weird fashion yet but that’s where I am headed,” she explained. “I like to be talked about—when people look at me like what is she wearing? Even though it’s not the most beautiful, it grabs your attention.”
According to the filing, the trademark was submitted through the Chinsea L. Lee Revocable Trust, suggesting long-term planning around ownership, legacy and brand control—an approach increasingly adopted by global artists securing their intellectual property. Entertainment attorney Peter Nussbaum handled the application.
The trademark also protects her name to prevent unauthorized products from entering the merchandize market—a move many celebrities make as their brand value increases. The practice is common among high-profile figures, with stars such as Cara Delevingne and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson also trademarking their names.
Should she decide to officially enter the fashion world, Shenseea would join a growing list of musicians-turned-designers. Rihanna, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and Gwen Stefani have all ventured into apparel with varying degrees of success, while Victoria Beckham has evolved into one of the industry’s most respected creative directors.
Now signed to Sony Music for the release of her third studio album, Shenseea was in Jamaica last week helping with relief efforts following the passing of Hurricane Mellisa. On Instagram she stated, “This week was tough but fulfilling, seeing how resilient my people are and reflecting on how God has blessed me to be in a position where I can share my blessings with them. My heart and prayers go out to the ones I couldn’t reach ❤️🩹 Thanks to every volunteer and members of the force who helped me to execute my project in the safest way possible.”
