Shot List, a dynamic celebration of film, culture, and global storytelling, unfolds at the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre on Sunday, June 22, for what the organisers say will be “an unforgettable cinematic experience”.
Presented by the Jamaica Film and Television Association (JAFTA) and UK-based film exhibition pioneers We Are Parable in collaboration with the British Council, the, programme will once again showcase a bold lineup of emerging and established filmmakers from Jamaica and across the diaspora, while also introducing new blocks that spotlight cinema from India and St Vincent and the Grenadines.
“Shot List is a celebration of creative excellence and collaboration,” said Nadean Rawlins, president of JAFTA. “It brings together trailblazing filmmakers from the Caribbean and beyond, offering a rare space for discovery, dialogue, and cultural pride. We’re thrilled to expand our programme this year with new international showcases and a venue that reflects the spirit and vibrancy of Jamaican storytelling.”
The Jamaica Block, which celebrates homegrown narratives from local filmmakers who continue to shape the voice and vision of Caribbean cinema, includes St Andrews by Erin Ramirez; In Foreign, by Didi Beck; and Ignorance is a Lifestyle, by Christopher Browne
We Are Parable co-founder and creative director Anthony Andrews, said his entity was “thrilled to present the fourth edition of The Shot List, continuing our mission to highlight and celebrate exceptional black British filmmakers by showcasing their work in Kingston”.
Films to be showcased by the UK Block include The Last Dance, by Hayden McLean, British actor, writer, and filmmaker; Mango, by Joan Iyiola, a ulti-hyphenate talent and co-founder of Apatan Productions; Space(s), by Luke Frsh; and Run Like We, by Rhys Aaron Lewis, a London-based writer-director
The Shot List marks the Caribbean première for Apatan Productions and Iyiola expressed her “great honour” at being invited to showcase Mango.
“I am really looking forward to sharing our film with local audiences and connecting with fellow filmmakers from around the world, in what will be a cultural celebration,” she said.
The Shot List is introducing the India Block, which is described as “an exciting slate of contemporary works from India, offering a new cultural lens and rich narrative traditions”.
The St Vincent and the Grenadines Block, a dynamic addition to the Caribbean showcase, highlights fresh perspectives and emerging talent from the islands.
The Animation Block features a curated selection of innovative animated shorts that push the boundaries of form and storytelling.
