British sprinter Zharnel Hughes has been granted a medical exemption and will be missing from the UK Athletics Championships in Manchester later this month.

The 28-year-old, Britain’s fastest man ever over 100 and 200 metres, is still expected to receive a discretionary place to represent Team GB at the Olympics in Paris this summer.

The UK Athletics Championships will help to select all of the UK track and field team for Paris in all events except for the 10,000 metres.

Hughes is ruled out with a hamstring injury sustained during a meeting in Jamaica earlier this month.
