Taylor Swift has officially rewritten Billboard history once again. With “The Fate of Ophelia” debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, the pop icon has now earned eight No. 1 singles this decade, breaking her tie with Ariana Grande and Drake for the most chart-toppers of the 2020s.
The milestone arrives alongside another record-shattering feat: her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 4.002 million units, marking the biggest opening week in U.S. history and her 15th No. 1 album.
Reacting to the historic debut, Swift shared a heartfelt message with fans:
“I have four million thank-yous I want to send to the fans, and four million reasons to feel even more proud of this album than I already was.”
Swift has now achieved what no artist has done before — dominating the entire Top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 with songs from her last three consecutive studio albums. In each of those weeks, no male artists appeared in the Top 10, an unprecedented streak that has only occurred three times in history — all led by Taylor Swift.
Her rise this decade solidifies her position as one of the most powerful artists of all time. With 13 total No. 1 hits on the Hot 100, she is now just one song away from tying Rihanna as the artist with the most No. 1 singles of the 21st century.
The Life of a Showgirl also marks the first time an artist has simultaneously debuted a film, album, and song at No. 1 in the United States. Swift’s film The Life of a Showgirl: The Movie topped the box office the same week the album and its lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” debuted at No. 1 on their respective charts.
The release also set a new benchmark for career growth: The Life of a Showgirl outsold the first-week U.S. sales of her debut album Taylor Swift by 100 times — 4 million units compared to 40,000 in 2006.
