The continuation of the triple murder trial of former police officer Elmer Nah got underway in the High Court today. Nah appeared before Justice Nigel Pilgrim and was officially read three counts of murder in relation to the homicides of Jon Ramnarace, his wife Vivian, and his brother David. Nah was also read an additional charge of attempted murder for David’s wife Yemi Alberto, for which he pleaded not guilty to all four counts. The substantive trial was to commence after a voir dire, where the admissibility of aspects of the prosecution’s evidence was being challenged. However, the special prosecutor, Jamaican attorney Terrence Williams, requested that he call his first witness in the matter before commencing the voir dire. The witness, a retired scene of crime technician, testified that he was the neighbor of Jon Ramnarace and his wife, Vivian. The witness also gave his account of the incident which occurred on New Year’s Eve 2022. The voir dire proceeded this afternoon, where the prosecution called three witnesses and four witness statements, which were not being challenged by the defence, were read into evidence. Notably, members of the Pascacio and Belisle families, who are relatives of Vivian, were in court. One relative told Love News that the past two years have been difficult, since they have no idea what prompted the brutal murders. The voir dire continues tomorrow, where an additional four witnesses will be called. We understand that the matter will continue well into next week.
