Rounding out the Top 5 were The Little Things and Those Who Wish Me Dead—both Warner Bros. Pictures releases from 2021. Notably, Those Who Wish Me Dead also stars Tyler Perry, giving the filmmaker two films in Netflix’s Global Top 10 during the same tracking period.
A long-awaited return to a beloved franchise
Why Did I Get Married Again? marks the third installment in Tyler Perry’s “Why Did I Get Married…?” trilogy, arriving 19 years after the original 2007 film. The franchise began with Why Did I Get Married?, which Perry adapted from his hit stage play of the same name, before returning with Why Did I Get Married Too? in 2010.
The story later expanded into the television spinoff For Better or Worse, which ran for 152 episodes across six seasons, first on TBS before moving to OWN.
The new film reunites the beloved couples from the previous movies as they travel to Lake Como, Italy, to celebrate the wedding of Marcus and Angela’s daughter. Perry once again serves as both writer and director, blending comedy, romance, family drama, and emotional moments that made the franchise a fan favorite.
