Veteran Educator Fred Bryant Passes Away at 64

Veteran educator Fred Bryant passed away this week at the age of 64. He died at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, due to multiple health complications after a prolonged battle with illness. Bryant spent over 30 years as a teacher at Edward P. Yorke High School and was widely respected in educational circles. In light of his passing, many staff members, students, and alumni of the school have taken to social media to grieve his loss and celebrate his commitment to education and discipline. Karen Canto, Principal of Edward P. Yorke, says that Bryant was an invaluable member of staff who supported the school even after his retirement two years ago.

Apart from his contributions to education, Bryant was also known for his love of music. He taught music at the high school and was instrumental in the development of the Belize Band Fest over the years. Band Fest Coordinator, Carmen Barrow, spoke with us today on Bryant’s dedication to Love FM’s Bandfest in past years.

Bryant started teaching at Edward P. Yorke on September 4, 1992, and officially retired on his birthday, March 6, 2023. His funeral arrangements are still being worked out.
