Australia bowled out the West Indies for the second lowest score in test cricket history to win the final game of their three match series by 176 runs inside three days at Sabina Park to sweep the series 3-nil.
The West Indies were set 204 for victory and were dismissed for 27 in 14 overs, just one better than the 26 New Zealand made in 1955 and they missed equalling the lowest ever score on a misfield.
Man of the match and man of the series Mitchell Starc was rampant with 6 for 9 in his 100th test and he also moved past 400 test wickets in the process and he was supported by Scott Boland who bagged 3 for 2, the tenth Australian to bag a hat-trick in test cricket.
Earlier Alzarrie Joseph 5 for 27 and Shamar Joseph 4 for 34 combined to dismiss the Aussies for 121 in their second innings.
Shamar ended the series with 22 wickets, the second best ever by a West Indian in a series of three or more test matches in the Caribbean.
West Indies captain Roston Chase was lost for words in his assessment of the game.
Chase says powers that be must take the next few weeks to come up with a way of getting the batting up to scratch before they head off for their next test series away in India in a few months
Chase’s opposite number Pat Cummins was impressed with his team’s ability to work through the difficult moments in the three test matches to come out on top.
